About Pagecraft ELA
Crafted by Emily, a practising English and Literature teacher in the UK who creates classroom-ready resources and educational content across multiple platforms.
From the classroom to Pagecraft ELA
TL;DR – I’m Emily, the hands behind Pagecraft ELA. I’m a practising English and Literature teacher in the UK as well as an educational content creator on lots of platforms.
I’ve been teaching for nearly 20 years and I’ve collected a lot of experience along the way. Before deciding that front-line teaching was my niche rather than leadership, I took on the role of whole-school cross-curricular Literacy Coordinator and later became Head of Department for English, and finally Head of Faculty for English, Media and Literacy.
What I do now
These days, I stay in the classroom and channel that experience into designing practical, engaging ELA resources for real students and real teachers.

Meet Emily
Teacher, examiner & resource creatorI’ve mentored trainee educators within my department, worked on residential summer schools run by my local university, and taught students who needed to close skills gaps before the next school year. In recent years I’ve also been marking and grading English GCSE exams for my country’s primary national exam board.

Why I create Pagecraft ELA resources
Pagecraft ELA grew out of my own classroom needs. I wanted resources that were rigorous but still fun, that supported literacy across the curriculum and helped students feel seen and capable. Everything I create is designed to save teachers time while giving students clear structure, challenge and support.
Check out my interview with Artful and Educational to hear more about my teaching journey.
From mentoring trainee teachers to working with students closing skills gaps, my experience shapes every Pagecraft ELA resource.
Teaching experience that underpins every resource
Over nearly two decades I’ve worked as Literacy Coordinator, Head of Department and Head of Faculty for English, Media and Literacy. I’ve supported trainee educators, taught on summer school programmes with my local university and helped students prepare for high-stakes exams.
That blend of roles means I understand what teachers need at classroom level and what exam boards expect from students.

Outside the classroom
In my own time I create resources, read uselessly, chase chickens and my own children, binge-watch crime dramas and start DIY projects that I rarely finish. I have it on good authority that I’m the most aggressive typist in my school – but I still can’t touch-type.
