TL;DR – I’m Emily, the hands behind Pagecraft ELA, and I’m a currently practicing English and Literature teacher in the UK as well as an educational content creator on lots of platforms.
The detailed version – I’ve been teaching for nearly 20 years, and I’ve collected lots of experience along the way. Before finally deciding that front-line teaching was my niche rather than leadership, I took on the role of whole-school cross-curricular Literacy Coordinator and progressed to Head of Department for English, and finally Head of Faculty for English, Media and Literacy.
I spent time as the mentor teacher for the trainee educators within our department. Along the way I dabbled in residential summer schools run by my local university, teaching students who needed to close skills gaps before the next school year, and in recent years I have been marking and grading English GCSE exams for my country’s primary national exam board.
In my own time I create resources, read uselessly, chase chickens and my own children, binge-watch crime dramas and start DIY that I rarely finish. I have it on good authority that I am the most aggressive typist in my school, but I still can’t touch-type.
